To renew an existing license plate using C.O.M.P.A.S.S., the previous registration certificate is needed.
It will look like one of the sample registration certificates below.
The numbered items identify what information is needed to complete the registration process.

2. Plate Number. This should be entered exactly as displayed on the registration certificate.
3. Type of Plate. You may renew online if your plate type is PASS, IPASS, CPASS or ICPAS.
6. Gross Vehicle Weight. Currently your may not renew online if the weight shown is more than 8,000 pounds.
11. Body Style. This should not be marked as MTRHM.
17. Vehicle Identification Number. Only enter the last 4 digits.
23. Primary Owner's Name.
a) If vehicle is not leased, use the last name shown on the first line.
b) If vehicle is leased, use the last name shown on the second line.
22. Primary Owner's Date of Birth. If there are multiple owners, this is the first valid date shown in the box.
