Initial License Plates
Search the availability of initial license plates. These plates are issued on a first
come, first served basis at any of the DMV
substations throughout the state or at any online
municipal agent. An online municipal agent is an agent of the State of New Hampshire
that is able to process registrations online with the State Division of
Motor Vehicle's registration computer system.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: YOU CAN ONLY CHANGE YOUR PLATES AT RENEWAL TIME. AT RENEWAL TIME, GO TO THE CITY/TOWN WHERE YOU RESIDE AND PAY THE LOCAL FEES ONLY. ONCE THE LOCAL FEES ARE PAID, YOU MAY THEN CHANGE YOUR PLATES AT A DMV OFFICE OR ON-LINE MUNICIPAL AGENT. PLEASE HAVE THE PRIMARY OWNER LISTED ON THE REGISTRATION COMPLETE THE DSMV 40 FORM BEFORE GOING TO THE DMV OFFICE OR ON-LINE MUNICIPAL AGENT.
Initial plates may be shared between different plate types. To search the database, first
select the vehicle type and then the appropriate plate type.
